Foreign Office to Colonial Office.
Foreign Office, January 28, 1914. I AM directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to transmit to you herewith copy of a note from the Netherland Chargé d'Affaires,† stating that a conference will be held at The Hague in the month of May next to consider the means to be taken for putting into force the Opium Convention of 1912, and inviting His Majesty's Government to send representatives to take part in the conference.
Subject to the concurrence of the Departments concerned, Sir E. Grey proposes to accept the invitation and to appoint as British delegates Sir W. J. Collins and Mr. W. G. Max Müller, and I am to request that he may be informed as soon as possible whether Mr. Secretary Harcourt has any objection to raise to the course proposed.
Similar communications have also been addressed to the India Office and Board of Trade.
